A new face at Solutions Bridal - Meet Tanya

I often have the pleasure of meeting someone that is incredible.   A while back I met Tanya Douglas.  She had approached me in search of joining the Caroline Johnson team.  Unfortunately, I was already staffed.  I met with her for a second meeting to get to know her and figure out how I could help her secure a job.  Her background ironically is in landscape architecture.  She is ridiculously talented with sketching.  Within 2 seconds she whipped out the sketch while interviewing for a potential job with us.  Her creativity amazed me and her talent was remarkable.  I knew she belonged in the Orlando Wedding Market.  I got a buzz that Solutions Bridal was hiring and instantly knew she would be a perfect fit!  As of last Thursday she is a new face at Solutions Bridal!  I am excited for her because the staff at Solutions Bridal is amazing!  When you are in the Salon be sure to stop in and say hi to her!

Happy Valentine's Day from Caroline Johnson Photography

Happy Valentine's Day!

{a special word from your photographer}

I am so fortunate to be in the business of capturing LOVE on film. From the silly moments and glances that a couple in love shares to the love that a woman and man share for their children. It is my life mission to not only love but to capture personal love stories.

Eight years back when I was first discovering my love and passion for photography while in Seattle, I attended what I thought was a silly corporate seminar. The message that was unveiled at the end of the two day seminar was that in life one should "LOVE, LEARN & LEAVE a LEGACY!"

Photography has been a LOVE for me because it has provided a haven for me to explore and take witness to moments that I may have overlooked. When searching for the perfect images through my lens, I feel really alive. My heart slows down as my eyes explore and take in all the visuals. When I have my camera in hand, I feel as though I am truly living in the moment. My LOVE of photography has guided me and my amazing clients constantly push me to see differently, explore the ordinary, and see the extraordinary!

I am so grateful to my many life teachers. From those who guide me everyday to those who have helped me to unleash my creative potential through their teachings. I enjoy photography so much because every day I am LEARNING. One can never know it all in this industry. Technology is constantly changing and pushing me to new heights with my art. In honor of those how have taught me, it is my goal this year to give back and teach those who are seeking to LEARN. Seminars will be launched in the second part of 2010.

Photography is my way to leave a LEGACY for many generations to share. An image can last forever. Generations upon generations will cherish their family history. There is nothing sweeter than when a client comes back several years later and tells me what it meant to them when their son or daughter was old enough to enjoy their wedding images.

I hope that you too can find a unique way to share with the world your amazing talents. It is my Valentine's Day wish that you too choose to LOVE, LEARN, & LEAVE a LEGACY.

Happy Valentine's Day - XOXO

I had the pleasure of photographing an amazing wedding set up which was beautifully planned by Weddings Unique at the Ritz Carlton, Grand Lakes in Orlando. The entire wedding team that pulled off this amazing event was so talented.  The Flowers were designed by Flourish, Linens by BBJ Linen, Music Scott Messina.  It was really such a beautiful event and so much fun to get the Room shots for Weddings Unique and the Ritz Carlton, Grand Lakes.  All the Room set up images below are from my collection.  Enjoy the pics along with the entire issue of Central Florida Bride. - Caroline

The new Creative Oasis for Caroline Johnson Photography of Orlando

It has been one month and counting since the trigger was pulled to launch the new studio here in Orlando, Florida! All of us at Caroline Johnson Photography are excited to announce the new studio is up and running! The brand new and elegant space has an ambiance that symbolizes the unique {MODERNISME} style that Caroline Johnson Photography exudes.  Located in the center of Orlando’s antique district it is the perfect location for backdrops for a variety of different shoots. The new studio space also boasts a shooting room for those rainy days and family portraiture.

The design inspiration came from years of pulling out my favorite decorating ideas from magazines such as Domino, Elle décor, Dwell, and many others.  The spirit of the new studio came alive quickly on paper once the inspiration and mood board was designed.  I incorporated several luscious details including white floors and teal blue walls, basil greens accents, and a damask wall covering that will make your heart smile.

If I had to describe the space I would call it “Vintage Modern Chic.” For those who have known me for along time you will recognize my favorite damask print.  This has been an element that I incorporated over 5 years ago, well before it became trendy!  It still makes me happy.

I feel like the design process went so smoothly because I simply incorporated all the elements that I love into the new studio space.  I tried not to over plan the space but rather include items that I simply LOVED.  When giving advice to anyone new to design or wanting to spruce up your new space, I always say... "Stay true to your style and only buy the items that you love and that make you happy."  Every piece in your space should function and have a story.

One of the most unique aspects of the studio is the bathroom! Yes, the bathroom! We spared no expense! The black and white marble floors accentuate the basil green hand painted sink basin which rests the modern Ferguson vessel sink!  Our bathroom is exquisitely different. Obviously you can see I am very excited about the new bathroom J This studio is laced with details that ignites my creative soul.

You are officially invited to come by and visit at the new studio.  All of the alluring details are sure to draw you in.  I hope that you too will agree that Caroline Johnson Photography is the crème de la crème of Florida’s Photography studios.  - Caroline

A day in the life at Caroline Johnson Photography

So the day ins and day outs here are the studio are constatly changing.  The roles have merged into massive roles amongst themselves.  This is the whole draw to adding a highly traned staff to share in the various roles. It is so surprising for one to actually see that I only shoot about 10% of the time.  We wear many hats here at Caroline Johnson Photography.  Now that Meghan has joined the team she has made so many comments about how much more complicaed this job actually is.  I think she mentioned the word "Layered" when explaining the role of photographer.  I would have to agree, this fabulous job is really layered and one needs to be very versatile.  I did a little snapshot for a visual so you could see how my average days are spent.  It is my goal this new year to have a major shift and delegate to my amazing staff so that I can be shooting more! After all, I love my art and thrive off sharing it with my clients.

"I was born to create masterful art that can be enjoyed for many generations".  - Caroline Johnson

Featured Vendor

It is always so fun to meet individuals who either offer something different or just plain do it better.  It is my intent to feature and spotlight some of my favorite vendors for you to learn a little more about.  My first amazing find was The Flipbook People.

We have seen the ever so cool Photobooth over and over ... and yes they are super exciting and guests at weddings totally love engaging in the fun.  Recently I found something even cooler while at the Grand Soiree a while back at the New Hilton in Orlando.  The Flipbook People actually run video and capture you being sweet, goofy or just plain old off the wall.  While you wait they put a Flipbook together with about 100 pages (print, cut, bind and in your hands).  The process is so fast and such a wonderfuly cool keepsake.  I would love to see them in action at weddings.  I know that guests would go crazy.  If you haven't already you should check them out on their Blog! - Caroline
